Position Overview
The Concrete Crew Laborer is responsible for performing a range of physical duties on construction sites which include cleaning and preparing the site, loading and unloading materials, digging trenches, compacting soil, and assisting other construction workers with various tasks at different on-site plant locations.
Key Resposibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Assist in mixing, pouring, finishing and forming concrete.
Partner with construction/paving crew with various duties including shoveling and raking, running a wheelbarrow, safely backing/dumping trucks into various pieces of equipment.
Dig, spread, and level materials using hand tools.
Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.
Ensure job materials are laid out according to plan.
Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
Pick up and/or deliver construction materials to various job sites.
Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA safety practices and regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
Experience in a building materials/construction industry preferred.
Work Requirements
Must be 18 years in age or older.
Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee and Safety Policy Manuals/Handbooks.
Regular, on-time and consistent attendance is required and must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required (less than 10% of the time) or Must be willing to travel to other locations frequently within the workday.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
Knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in concrete construction
Ability to read, write and do basic mathematical calculations
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing
Demonstrated ability to take guidance and direction from a supervisor.
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
Physical Requirements
Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Ability to frequently talk, hear, walk, and sit as well as occasionally required to stand, reach use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
Able to climb ladders and to work at heights as well as work in tight quarters.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. A variety of noise levels, adverse weather conditions, and complex job sites are to be expected daily. Proper clothing, PPE (personal protective equipment), and safety precautions should be taken to ensure your safety, and the safety of others in all conditions.
Salary : $45,000 - $64,000
