ReadyCT is a statewide 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to advance academic excellence and career-connected learning for all public school students in Connecticut through collaboration with business, civic, and education leaders. What you’ll do:
Reporting to the deputy director and collaborating very closely with the director of data strategy, the development and reporting specialist will primarily focus on preparing proposals to secure resources (e.g., responding to RFPs, NOFOs, and grant opportunities), reporting on public and private investment, and enhancing donor relations. The role requires strong writing skills and attention to details, together with analytical skills, including advanced data analysis, creating interactive visualizations, and developing data insights for informed decision-making. Additionally, collaboration with program managers, school staff, corporate partners, and other key stakeholders will be essential. Activities will include:
Grant Writing and Management:
- Research and identify grant opportunities that align with ReadyCT’s objectives.
- Write, submit, and manage grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, corporations, private individuals, and government agencies.
- Contribute to org-wide reporting efforts related to public and private investment.
- Track and report on grant performance and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Donor Development and Cultivation:
- Identify, qualify, and cultivate a portfolio of prospects, inclusive of community partners.
- Develop and implement strategies to solicit major and planned gifts in support of ReadyCT’s mission.
- Work closely with organizational leaders, board members, and program directors to align fundraising efforts with key initiatives.
Support Data Management and Analysis:
- Conduct advanced statistical analysis, including regression analysis, to assess program impact and develop data-driven narratives for donor and stakeholder engagement, aligned with the organization’s reporting needs.
- Create and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using various data visualization tools to showcase program outcomes and attract funding opportunities.
- Develop and implement surveys to gauge stakeholder responses, providing actionable insights for enhancing donor and partner relationships.
- Design systems and processes to track long-term student outcomes, enabling ReadyCT to communicate the sustained impact of its programs to funders and supporters.
- Provide support to the data team as needed, assisting with tasks such as data cleaning, analysis, org-wide FERPA compliance, and system maintenance to ensure overall efficiency and effectiveness.
This job description is intended to be a comprehensive overview of the development and reporting specialist role. All ReadyCT team members are charged with other duties as may be required. In-state travel is required.
Desired skills:
- A bachelor’s degree (required); a master’s degree or higher is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in development, grant writing, and data management, preferably within the education sector or a non-profit organization.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Technical writing skills and the ability to communicate complex data findings clearly.
- Knowledge of the Connecticut education system and key stakeholders is a plus.
- Proficiency with interactive data visualization tools (e.g., Google Data Studio, Tableau).
- Experience with Salesforce, including database maintenance, form creation, report customization, and ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Ability to distill complex educational programming into clear, easy-to-understand, and quantifiable metrics.
- Commitment to data security and confidentiality, with a thorough understanding of FERPA regulations.
