Quality Assurance Specialist

Responsibilities:

· Helps design, document and establish the company’s Quality Management System as they are applied to a packaging and distribution facility, and ensures company compliance to these standards

· Conducts daily inspection of in-bound goods against quality specifications and documents findings in accordance with the established Quality Management System

· Creates and promotes a culture of continual improvement where data is collected and used to make decisions regarding product quality

· Works with company management in recommending system improvements, and implements necessary internal and external QA systems and infrastructure to support company growth

· Conducts regular audits and annual reviews of the system to ensure compliance

· Manages and reviews the inspection methods and techniques of inbound materials

· Works closely with Product Development and Supply Chain team members in order to establish acceptable standards for manufacturing

· Conducts regular reviews of contract manufacturers production methods and makes recommendations for improvement

· Prepares and participates with 3rd party audits and follows up with requested documents and improvements

· Provides the required documentation to sales teams as needed by customers to demonstrate compliance with accepted quality and food safety standards

· Helps promote the company’s Food Defense Program

· Has general knowledge of GMPs, Employee Hygiene, Sanitation and Pest Control Requirements and Procedures

· Has general knowledge of packaging laws and packaging waste directives

· Has general knowledge of FDA Food Safety Regulations

Requirements:

· BA/BS in Science or Engineering or similar study or experience

· Technical knowledge of quality and food safety systems

· Minimum of 5 years experience in a food, food packaging or manufacturing environment

· Experience working with contract manufacturers both foreign and domestic

· Excellent analytical and quantitative skills

· Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

Job Types: Full-time, Temp-to-hire, Temporary

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed

Experience:

• Warehouse: 4 years (Required)
• Food processing plant: 2 years (Required)
• QA/QC: 2 years (Required)
