Job Purpose:
Entrepreneur High School San Bernardino is seeking a dedicated and experienced High School Physical Education Teacher & Head Football Coach to lead both the physical education program and varsity football team. This position will begin as the Varsity Head Football Coach for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year and transition into a full-time Physical Education teaching position for the 2025-2026 school year, continuing the leadership of the football program. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality physical education instruction, incorporating health education and sports-specific conditioning, while also overseeing the football program’s development, coaching student-athletes, and fostering a competitive and positive team culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate physical education instruction, including health education and sports-specific conditioning.
Adapt teaching schedule to include football student-athletes in a designated period, balancing academic and athletic commitments.
Develop lesson plans that promote fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles in alignment with state standards.
Provide all aspects of the physical education curriculum and program planning.
Create a learning experience that motivates each student to cultivate physical fitness and appropriate social and emotional adjustment.
Discover and develop talents of students in physical achievement that develop strength, skill agility, poise, and coordination in accordance with each student’s ability.
Work as a team with other teachers in the department, including sharing space & equipment.
Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of student performance.
Commit to professional growth to enhance student learning.
Football Coaching Responsibilities
Lead the varsity football program, including off-season conditioning, weight training, and player development.
Foster a positive and disciplined team culture that promotes sportsmanship, leadership, and personal growth.
Oversee the recruitment of student-athletes, particularly middle school athletes, to develop and sustain a strong program.
Collaborate with local youth leagues and middle schools to build a pipeline for player development.
Ensure student-athletes comply with academic and behavioral expectations, supporting their growth as student-athletes.
Develop and implement game strategies, playbooks, and practice plans.
Maintain accurate records of team performance, statistics, and player development.
Supervise and assist in evaluating assistant coaches, ensuring alignment with the program’s philosophy and objectives.
Assist in fundraising, sponsorships, and program budgeting to support the team’s needs.
Ensure compliance with CIF Southern Section (CIF SS) rules and policies, as well as school and district athletic regulations.
Organize and oversee team-related activities, including travel arrangements, equipment management, and booster club engagement.
Transport student-athletes to games or practices using the school vans as needed.
Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, school staff, and the community about team activities and achievements.
Collaborate with school administration and athletic leadership to align the football program with the school’s mission and values.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or school leadership.
Minimum Requirements:
Required: Hold a valid California Physical Education Teaching Credential.
Preferred: CPR, First Aid, and strength/conditioning certifications.
Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level, preferably as a head coach or coordinator.
Extensive knowledge of football strategies, conditioning, and player development.
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop student-athletes.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and high-achieving team environment.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as necessary for games, practices, and events.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Experience with computers and software applications.
Proficiency with or the ability to learn current software and equipment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Physical demands:
Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects such as training equipment and gear.
Ability to physically demonstrate and participate in sport-specific drills and activities, including running, jumping, and agility movements.
Capability to stand for extended periods during practices and games.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Willingness to engage in physical conditioning activities alongside student-athletes when necessary.
