Job Purpose:
Entrepreneur High School San Bernardino is seeking a dedicated and experienced High School Head Varsity Cheerleading Coach to lead our varsity cheerleading team for the upcoming season. The successful candidate will be responsible for coaching, mentoring, and developing student-athletes to achieve their highest potential both on and off the field. The Head Coach will be expected to create a positive and inclusive team environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and personal growth, while focusing on skills such as stunting, choreography, and cheerleading safety guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and conduct regular team practices, conditioning sessions, and performances.
- Develop and implement effective cheerleading routines, including stunts, tumbling, jumps, and dance choreography, to enhance team spirit and school pride.
- Teach and enforce proper techniques for stunts, pyramids, and tumbling to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Monitor and maintain adherence to safety guidelines and ensure all cheerleading activities comply with CIF Southern Section (CIF SS) and other governing bodies' rules and policies.
- Foster a positive team culture that promotes mutual respect, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes, focusing on their academic, athletic, and personal development.
- Organize cheerleading performances for school events, pep rallies, sports games, and competitions.
- Coordinate and communicate with assistant coaches, athletic trainers, and school administration.
- Maintain accurate records of team statistics, individual performance, and other relevant data.
- Organize and oversee team activities, including travel arrangements, equipment management, and fundraising efforts.
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and the community regarding team activities, schedules, and achievements.
- Adhere to all school district policies and procedures as well as state athletic regulations.
Minimum Requirements:
- Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level, preferably as a head or assistant coach.
- Strong knowledge of the sport, including rules, strategies, and techniques.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, and school staff.
- Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive team environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
- Valid coaching certification or willingness to obtain one prior to the start of the season (as required by the state or school district).
Physical demands:
- Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Ability to physically demonstrate and participate in sport-specific drills and activities.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel as necessary for practices, games, and events.
Compensation & Benefits:
- The stipend for the Girls High School Head Varsity Coach position for the volleyball season, number of junior varsity and varsity programs; as well as the number of students attending the school.
- As such, the compensation can vary from year-to-year.
