THIS IS A 1099 CONTRACTOR POSITION, NOT A W-2 EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY, AND SHOULD NOT BE CONSTRUED AS SUCH
Real Life Counseling provides mental health-centered Referral, Billing, Credentialing, Executive and other Administrative services, connecting clients to our network of Independent Clinicians in a private practice setting, utilizing in-office and telehealth services. We work with a combination of Medicaid Funded Insurances, Private Insurances and Private Pay. Instead of getting caught up in the complexities of finding clients, insurance billing or other administrative procedures, our mental health Service Providers are able to direct their energy to where it matters most: supporting the mental health needs of their clients.
As an Incident to Billing (ITB) provider, you work and bill under the license of a fully licensed and credentialed Clinician. For Associate Licensed clinicians, this will also serve as a Clinical Supervisor to the work you do with RLC.
1099 Independent Clinical Contractor Scope of Work
- Provide integral, legal and ethical mental health services to the individuals, couples, and families (if qualified) contacting Real Life Counseling, utilizing evidence-based practices, in office and telehealth settings.
- Interact with other 1099 Independent Clinical Contractors and our Administrative staff in a way that aligns our RLC culture and values.
- Work from a strengths-based/team-based approach in coordinating the provision of services.
- Clinicians will occasionally interact with community partners and resources as part of some case management activities when the clients present with needing additional resources (e.g. - engaging with their PCP or med management provider, accessing addiction related service, etc.)
- Complete documentation within RCW/WAC timelines.
- Counseling Services - including harm reduction strategies, family systems approach of identifying social roles, relationships, and family functioning and is trauma-informed & utilizes evidence-based interventions.
- Operate within the Rules and Ethics of your field as outlined in Washington State RCW/WAC and within the Association connected to your degree and/or license (ACA, NASW, AAMFT), including maintaining up-to-date documentation.
- Maintain all other contracted agreements.
Benefits of Being a 1099 Independent Contractor Clinician with RLC
- Set your own caseload - There is no productivity or session minimum requirements so this position allows a clinician to see as many clients as they prefer

- Provide either in person and/or telehealth services - You have the option to work in office or from an identified HIPAA compliant secured location (you may consider adjusting this based upon referral flow).
- Control your income - As a 1099 Independent Contracted Clinician, you control your income based on completed sessions and those sessions’ average reimbursement rates. Average Session Reimbursement Rates - Can vary between $100-$171/session, depending on set private pay rates and insurance allowable rates. Clinicians can select how many sessions they prefer to complete and this role can be used as either a part time or full time practice.

Administrative/Executive Services Provided by RLC
RLC provides a variety of contracted services within our Administrative/Executive services scope. All of our services are informed by our values of being a supportive, strength based, transparent and informative practice. Attached to this role description is the list of our business and practice values.
RLC Administrative & Executive Services include:
- 1099 Onboarding and Administrative Training - RLC covers all onboarding and acclimating to help all 1099 Contracted Clinicians get acclimated and set up for success in starting their practice with us.
- Office Space and/or Virtual Infrastructure - RLC has multiple offices/locations throughout Clark County and maintains professional settings so the clinical experience is excellent and inviting.
- Office Technology, including the “Reliatrax” Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform - RLC uses an up-to-date, counseling-specific EHR system designed to make documentation easy, quick, competent and complete. Our online Portal system for clients also provides easy access to their records and ability to complete payments and documentation. RLC uses only digital documentation, and our EHR system makes it easy to then support you and your clients with any documentation requests. The EHR also includes our host of screening and assessment tools, all that can be facilitated via our EHR system.
- Technical Support for RLC technology - RLC has Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm technology and IT support as well as additionally contracted IT support (available free to you) for more complicated IT related situations.
- Secure & Accessible Telehealth Platform for all client services - RLC provides you a HIPAA compliant version of Google Meets, allowing for easy completion of any telehealth based counseling service.
- HIPAA compliance monitoring/training - RLC keeps an up to date EHR system designed to meet HIPAA, State and Insurance requirements to help ensure compliance and avoid costly paybacks.
- Administrative Support (Scheduled M-F, 9am-5pm) - Our admin team seeks to support clinicians and their clients in ensuring a positive counseling experience, access to our host of resources and support with the administrative side of the counseling process.
- Billing - RLC has a large billing team that seeks to obtain all “billable” services, supports you and your clients with any billing or payment barriers and provides you transparency with the status of all your billable sessions.
- Insurance Credentialing - RLC seeks to credential all qualified clinicians with our host of major insurances as part of working with us.
- Referrals - RLC receives hundreds of referrals a month and can provide those to clinicians based on their preferred client demographics and modalities. Clinicians can control that “volume” based on those preferences.
- Insurance Billing - RLC utilizes most major insurance carriers towards services, recognizing that most people’s access to counseling is available to them through their insurance providers. All clinicians at RLC are able to work with the RLC host of credentialed insurances.
- Bookkeeping - RLC manages our payroll systems (utilized through the HRIS system UKG) and provides M-F 9am-5pm financial support for questions related to pay, reimbursements and budgeting.
- Human Resources - Our Human Resources department supports each of our employees and 1099 Contractors in ensuring their rights are maintained, supported and respected. HR is also available for consultations as needed.
- Operations - we manage our properties, provide IT support and facilitate office space management and security
Optional Services:
Services available at no additional cost:
- Business Formation & Consultation - RLC can be contracted to support in every step needed to create and establish your business license. Having and maintaining an active WA State Business license is required as a 1099 Independent Contractor and all are welcome to obtain that independently of RLC if preferred.
- Monthly Business consultation - As a business associate, RLC seeks to support each of our 1099 Independent Contractors in managing their business, recognizing that most clinicians are skilled and experienced clinical professionals who are also growing their business acumen.
- Additional Monthly Business/Clinical and General Q/A consultations - every week we host a Consultation to provide clinical, business and contracted relationship support to our host of 1099 clinicians - this is not required but always available.
- Marketing - RLC adds each clinician to our company website, increasing the provider’s community visibility. RLC also maintains provider availability with each of our contracted insurances, along with its own advertising within our community.
Services available with additional costs associated:
- Additional Service option of CEU’s - Unlimited Access to our Relias training platform library with courses that meet the ongoing education requirements for all clinicians (additional $30/month; 1 year commitment).
- Dedicated Business Phone Line - Managed via the Google Voice app on your cellphone and integrates with the provided, HIPAA-compliant RLC email address (additional $25/month; no annual commitment).
Compensation Schedule (3 Tiers):
- Tier 1: ITB Associate Licensed Clinician - RLC shall collect from ITB Associate Licensed Clinicians 45% of all revenues received for each Clinical Session (In-person or Telehealth) per billing period. This 45% includes and covers licensure supervision hours the Associate Licensed Associate can use towards their licensure process, along with the RLC administrative/ executive fee for services outlined above and within the 1099 Independent Contractor contract. This tier requires a minimum of 1-year commitment, unless a new Tier 2 contract is signed.
- Tier 2: ITB Fully Licensed Clinician - RLC shall collect from ITB Fully Licensed Clinicians 40% of all revenues received for each Clinical Session (In-person or Telehealth) per billing period. This 40% service charge covers the RLC administrative/executive fee for services outlined above and within the 1099 Independent Contractor contract. This tier requires a minimum of 1-year contract commitment before a transition to a Tier 3 contract.
- Tier 3: Fully Licensed and Credentialed Clinicians - RLC shall collect from ITB Fully Licensed Clinicians 40% of all revenues received for each Clinical Session (In-person or Telehealth) per billing period, and at this Tier, integrates a “capped” amount of revenue on which RLC can charge/collect, allowing Clinicians to capture 100% of all revenue exceeding the “capped” amount. Eligibility for this tier occurs after being fully credentialed under RLC.
Work Conditions
- Services can be provided in the office and/or via telehealth. Telehealth preference can be increased based upon clinician preference and client availability
- Clinicians are provided office space to adequately provide their caseload of in-office sessions. We request that requested office space is utilized 75% of the time for completed sessions. Clinicians completing 25 or more sessions weekly are considered "primary" office holders.
