What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Technician position at Really Right Stuff?
Really Right Stuff designs and sells premium photography support gear such as tripods, tripod heads, and quick-release systems. All products are made in the USA. We are based in Lehi and sell directly to consumers all over the world.
Job Purpose:
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for the enhancing our quality environment as well as inspecting parts and products to ensure they meet the quality standards of RRS and its customers, whether it be a new product or revisions to existing products by using measuring and inspection tools, along with statistical analysis, to compare received parts and products against their specifications.
Note on Schedule:
6:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Thursday.
Major Job Functions:
Quality:
- Use key quality tools (cause and effect diagrams, process charts, check sheets, pareto charts, scatter diagrams, control charts, and histograms)
- Perform day-to-day parts inspection
- First-article inspections of parts being setup
- Check for visual, dimensional, and functional defects
- Count all incoming parts to verify received inventory levels
- Use and maintain calipers, gauges, optical comparator, and coordinate measure machine (CMM)
- Maintain calibration logs
- Apply statistics (sampling, standard deviation, confidence levels, etc.)
- Accept or reject parts based on set criteria and engineering drawings
- Apply risk management tools like root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventative actions
- Identify and segregate non-conforming materials and participate in the material review board
Other:
- Work with Receiving and Inventory to manage transfer of parts and products
- Reference checklists and schedules to ensure all tasks are completed on time
- Conduct 5S to ensure a clutter-free and efficient workspace
Secondary Job Functions:
Receiving and Inventory Support:
- Process parts for sending to external vendors for Post-Processing
- Assist Material Handler/Receiving/Inventory if needed
Minimum Qualifications:
· High attention to detail
· Ability to lift & carry 40 pounds
· Self-starter, with a good work ethic
· Speak, write and communicate fluently in English
· Basic math and timekeeping
· Strong communication skills
· Friendly, punctual, reliable, and a positive attitude
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma is a plus
- Experience with a CMM and reading engineering drawings
- Familiarity with measuring tools (calipers, micrometer, Height Gage)
- Training can be provided for the ideal candidate
