Key Responsibilities:
- Drive Innovation: Lead the design and development of groundbreaking mechanical components and systems, pushing boundaries to meet and exceed demanding customer specifications while promoting innovation, efficiency, and robustness.
- Advanced Design & Modeling: Leverage expertise in advanced CAD software (Autodesk Inventor) to craft detailed 3D models and generate precise, ASME-compliant engineering drawings essential for high-stakes defense applications.
- Collaborative Excellence: Facilitate design reviews and closely collaborate across multidisciplinary teams—engineering, manufacturing, systems integration, and customers—to continuously refine and optimize cutting-edge design concepts.
- Analytical Validation & Simulation: Conduct comprehensive simulations, structural analyses (FEA), thermal analyses, and reliability assessments, ensuring that designs withstand the rigorous environments of defense applications.
- Rapid Prototyping & Testing: Spearhead the rapid prototyping process, oversee hands-on testing, and iteratively enhance designs to ensure reliability, durability, maintainability, and operational excellence in demanding field scenarios.
- Documentation & Communication Mastery: Create meticulous, clear, and detailed design documentation, including technical specifications, engineering drawings, analysis reports, tooling requirements, tolerance stacks, and end-user manuals to ensure seamless production and field deployment.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineering staff, promoting a culture of technical excellence, continual learning, and problem-solving agility.
- Manufacturing Integration: Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams and suppliers to refine designs for manufacturability (DFM), assembly efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and scalability.
- Lifecycle Ownership: Champion projects from initial concept through final field deployment, troubleshooting production challenges, and supporting systems integration and field support teams to ensure comprehensive lifecycle success.
- Continuous Innovation: Proactively stay abreast of industry trends, cutting-edge technologies, advanced materials, manufacturing processes, and defense market innovations to continuously infuse your designs with forward-thinking, revolutionary solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with a strong emphasis on mechanical design.
- Proficiency in CAD software Inventor and experience with advanced design tools.
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions and push the boundaries of design.
- Experience with complex heat dissipation and thermal optimization design.
- Experience in finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation methods.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong and respectful communication skills, with the ability to effectively present design concepts and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to mechanical design.
