What are the responsibilities and job description for the NDT Technician position at REC?
Position Summary:
We’re looking for an experienced NDT Technician / Inspector with a strong background in nondestructive testing methods. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of field experience and be proficient in various NDT techniques used in the inspection of pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping systems, and structural steel components.
This is a full-time role with approximately 70% field work (indoor, outdoor, and confined spaces) and 30% office work. Some projects may require overnight travel, with mileage and per diem covered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform nondestructive testing using methods including:
- Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT)
- Ultrasonic Testing – Shear Wave (UTS)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Dye Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Phased Array UT
- Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFE)
- Vacuum Box Testing
- Conduct structural steel inspections (welded and bolted connections).
- Perform field and shop inspections in compliance with applicable codes.
- Assist with occasional process safety evaluations (API 510, 570, 653).
- Operate portable hydraulic systems and calibrated load cells for load testing.
- Prepare clear and concise technical inspection reports.
- Contribute to project management and coordination with clients.
Maintain professional relationships with existing clients and help promote services to new ones
Qualifications:
· NDT Level I certification (RT/MT/PT).
· Associate's degree in Welding or a related field and at least 1 year of relevant NDT experience.
· Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a team.
· Familiarity with ASME, AWS, and API codes is a plus.
· A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
· Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.
