Recovery and Wellness Center of Eastern Washington is seeking a qualified Nutrition Assistant/Diet Technician for their specialized day and outpatient treatment programs. Established in 2015, Recovery and Wellness Center of Eastern Washington is the area's first Treatment Facility providing Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs for the treatment of Eating Disorders. In addition to our Eating Disorder Programs we provide Intensive Outpatient Treatment Programs for Depression and Anxiety.
All programs utilize a therapeutic, evidence-based curriculum containing lessons that are Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy based. We recognize and appreciate that each person's journey through life is unique and therefore, so is their treatment. Our experienced Medical Doctor, Licensed Therapists, and Registered Dietitians partner with our patients to create an individualized treatment plan focused on recovery.
Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Medical Director and Registered Dietitian, the Nutrition Assistant/Diet Technician will ensure implementation of the best standards of nutrition and dietary services in the following areas:
· Meal prepping
o Plan and prepare meals and snacks for patients
o Ensure all food safety procedures are followed
o Implement specific dietary exchange patterns through knowledge of portion size and recommendations set by the Registered Dietitians
· Facility maintenance
o Maintain a clean and well-stocked kitchen
o Uphold proper sanitation requirements
o Tracking, logging, and maintaining all temperature checks
o Organization and maintenance of refrigerators, pantry, and snack cabinet contents
· Proactive planning
o Participate in inventory, organization and menu planning for menu cycle
o Create grocery shopping lists and purchase grocery items for facility, considering variety, special dietary requirements, and food safety
o Participate in recipe and menu development, utilizing creative abilities to create nutrition experiential activities
· Provide additional dietary support
o Party planning and execution
o Support of nutritional lessons and patient experientials
o Participation and support for restaurant outings
·Communicate and collaborate with the nutritional team.
This is a unique position that allows those with an interest in nutrition and the mental health field or future registered dietitians with the opportunity to learn and gain a better understanding of eating disorders and treatment modalities. This opportunity will provide hands-on experience in the eating disorder and mental health field, learning from dedicated professionals, and working closely with this population.
Qualifications:
· Experience in dietary education and/or food service.
· Basic skills in food preparation, purchasing, and portion sizes.
· Ability to develop weekly menu, budget, shop, and prep daily meals.
· Understanding and ability to adjust and modify menu based on individual, cultural, and caloric requirements under the supervision of the RD.
· Provide documentation or obtain a state-required food handlers permit, or Serve Safe Certification.
· Willingness to learn about the nutrition and dietary interventions in the mental health field and individuals with eating disorders.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Undergraduate degree (or currently enrolled) AND/OR pursuing a career in the field of nutrition, through an Accredited Undergraduate Program in Nutrition or Diet Tech Certification Program.
· Currently a DTR.
