Job Description : Housing Coordinator

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Housing Coordinator to join our substance abuse disorder residential program located in Baltimore, Maryland. The program consists of six houses in the urban area surrounding downtown, each accommodating 5 to 6 clients in early recovery. The Housing Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the overall functioning and well-being of the program and its residents.

Responsibilities :

Manage Residential Program : Oversee the day-to-day operations of the residential program, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for clients in early recovery. Ensure that a clean and safe environment is maintained at each residence.

o Monitor to ensure that daily client schedules are being followed and implemented. Where schedules are not being adhered to, inform RCOM leadership and follow up with the house manager to ensure a corrective plan is implemented, where appropriate.

o Provide routine inspections to ensure : schedules, licenses, client rights, emergency exit plans, and other compliance information is posted conspicuously; the house is clean and orderly; smoke alarms and security systems are functioning properly; maintenance issues are reported and addressed with landlords and / or property management companies; supplies are inventoried by house managers at least weekly and supply needs are reported; assist with procurement and pick up of housing supplies and food orders when needed.

Weekend and Evening Management : Take charge during weekends and evenings when higher-level management is not present, ensuring continuity of care and timely resolution of any issues that may arise.

Client Support : Provide support to clients in conflict situations, offer guidance, and ensure a harmonious living environment within the houses.

o Coordinate client orientation, helping new clients become acclimated to the program, and helping clients complete new admission milestones.

o Assist with de-escalating client issues and conflicts, as well as addressing violations of housing and program expectations.

Supervision of House Managers : Oversee house managers to ensure coordination of activities, monitor medication observation, and address any concerns promptly.

o Train and supervise house managers. Document 1 : 1 supervision at least once weekly.

o Ensure the consistent and accurate completion of safeguards, including : regular weekly UA screens; random room and residence searches; logging client medications at the time of use; monthly fire and emergency drills.

o Ensure house managers are up to date with required trainings. Provide support and guidance to house managers to help develop them in the areas of client care, customer service, professionalism, conflict management, organization, and communication.

o Provide performance management where necessary and implement progressive corrective action in collaboration with the Vice President and Human Resources.

Emergency Response : Be available to respond to any emergencies or critical situations that may occur outside regular business hours.

Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate records, document client interactions, and report any incidents or developments to the appropriate supervisors.

Communication : Act as a liaison between clients, house managers, and higher-level management, ensuring effective and open communication channels at all times.

Qualifications :

Peer Recovery Specialist Certification : Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist is preferred with long-term sustained recovery for 5 or more years.

Experience : Previous experience working in a residential program or similar setting, preferably in the substance abuse disorder field.

Crisis Management Skills : Ability to handle conflict situations calmly and professionally, with a focus on de-escalation and problem-solving.

Strong Communication : Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with clients and staff members.

Flexibility : Willingness to work weekends and evenings, demonstrating flexibility and reliability in managing the residential program during off-hours.

Empathy and Compassion : Demonstrated empathy towards individuals in early recovery, with a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to client care.

Organizational Skills : Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and ensure the smooth operation of the program.

Salary and Benefits :

Salary Range : $35,000 to $48,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Manage the house manager schedule for group coverage and rotating weekend relief coverage.

Manage the client appointment schedule to arrange for transportation and chaperone coverage.

Provide weekly documented supervision to house managers.

Assist with the recruitment and hiring process for house managers.

Train new house managers.

Ensure groups are being supervised and expectations are adhered to by clients and staff.

Observe and ensure compliance with housing protocols such as room searches and logging medications, at least once monthly for each house.
