What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Transportation Driver-Dayton position at Recovery Center of Ohio, LLC?
The Recovery Center of Ohio’s mission is to help individuals recover from mental health and substance use disorders. We are an agency committed to quality gender-responsive, trauma-informed care to patients with substance use and co-occurring disorders. The Recovery Center of Ohio is looking for a Driver to transport patients in a comfortable, safe and timely manner. You will exhibit an in-depth knowledge of navigating the local area to use the safest routes possible while transporting patients. You will have daily interaction with patients and will need to provide excellent customer service. You must comply with the expectations of our contracts and all Federal, State, and Local regulatory standards for driving and vehicle safety.
Driver responsibilities include arranging regular cleaning and maintenance services for the vehicle, planning each route based on road and traffic conditions.
Note: You do not need to have a car; The Recovery Center of Ohio provides drivers with company owned vehicles.
You will…
- Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient trip
- Use maps to locate hospitals, medical facilities, and patient home addresses.
- Complete Trip Sheet on a daily basis, recording each transport and entering of Trip Sheet data into computer systems.
- Complete mechanical checklist for vehicle at the start of each shift.
- Pick up patients from the location at the time they’ve requested
- Assist patients with loading and unloading their luggage
- Listen to traffic and weather reports to stay up-to-date on road conditions
- Adjust the route to avoid heavy traffic or road constructions, as needed
- Ensure the car seats are clean and comfortable for all riders
- Schedule regular car service appointments and report any issues
- Book car wash and detailing services to maintain interior and exterior cleanliness of the car

- A High school diploma or GED
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- 0-2 years previous work experience
- Previous experience as a Patient transport Driver
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record with no traffic violations.
- Must be able to operate any Class 3 vehicle; sedan, van, or SUV
- Minimum visual acuity of 20/50 (or corrected to 20/50)
- Familiarity with GPS devices
- Knowledge of area roads and neighborhoods
- Ability to lift heavy packages and luggage
- Availability to occasionally take weekend and night shifts
- A polite and professional disposition
- Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. at rush hour)
