What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner position at Recovery Network?
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) assumes total clinical care of specific patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and consultations in accordance with established nursing standards, procedures, and practices. The NP will work in an inpatient and outpatient situation and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team.
Job Duties:
- The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible for diagnosing and treating patients in collaboration with clinical colleagues
- Provide services to clients in the forms of psychiatric evaluations, psychiatric consultations, treatment planning, medication administration/adjustments, medication assisted treatment (MAT), mental status assessments, supportive therapy, and/or crisis intervention.
- Prescribe and/or direct psychotherapeutic treatments or medication to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
- Monitor effects of psychotropic medications on clients.
- Revises/updates plan of care based on patient progress or lack thereof.
Required Education and Experience:
- Maryland or compact state license as a RN
- CRNP-PMH OR PMHNP
- Must hold XDEA (Buprenorphine waiver) privileges
- Vivitrol injection experience
- Basic Life Support/CPR
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Possesses clinical elements of substance abuse treatment.
- Possesses knowledge of trauma, attachment, and relational models.
- Possesses knowledge of methods for appropriate clinical documentation in a treatment setting.
- Possesses knowledge of techniques for effective assessments and case management.
- Ability to write clear and concise reports and to interpret statistical data.
- Ability to analyze therapeutic processes and determine means of maintaining and/or increasing efficiencies.
- Ability to explain technical terminology to nonexperts.
