Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting various HR functions, ensuring effective employee management and compliance with company policies. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Summary/objective: The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and certifications. This may include required new hire trainings, agency required trainings, and licensure required trainings.
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Writes and places job postings, screens and conducts interviews, conducts reference checks (ex. WV Cares), extends job offers, designs, supervises, and leads new hire orientation.
- Manages company driver list and completes annual MVR checks.
- Collaborates with department heads to design effective organization structures that enhance operational efficiency.
- Maintains accurate records in payroll systems for timekeeping and recruitment purposes.
- Provides guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices to employees at all levels.
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
- Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Assists agency leadership in recruitment and working on special projects.
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field or equivalent education/HR Experience.
- Proven experience as an HR Generalist or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of human resources practices, employment law, and regulations.
- Proficiency in HR software systems such as Paycom , Kronos, etc.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong analytical skills for employee evaluation and strategic planning initiatives.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on building relationships across the organization.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
