Responsible for skilled work in the instillation, repair, and maintenance in all areas of the commercial building trades, which are maintained by the Recreation Centers of Sun City West.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job’s overall responsibilities.)
- Maintain a wide range of facilities, equipment and tools related to the assigned area of responsibility.
- Ensure work area is clean prior to leaving job site.
- Perform routine maintenance and general maintenance duties including carpentry such as
- Install and repair hardware
- Perform minor concrete work
- Repair and hang sheetrock
- Install and repair ceramic tile, VCT tile, and carpeted floors
- Utilize proper safety precautions related to all work performed.
- Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment.
- Maintains consistent record of acceptable attendance and punctuality according to policy guidelines.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Arizona driver's license and provide 39-month clean driving record for insurance purposes; clear driving record must remain current to retain this job.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Works under the direction if the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Sufficient Training and education to demonstrate possession of required knowledge, skills and qualifications are required.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) supplemented by specialized training in one or more of the building/construction trades;
- or three years of mechanical or structural maintenance experience and/or training;
- or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of methods and techniques of general construction, maintenance, and repair related to work area assigned.
- Experience in carpentry, plumbing, painting, welding and/or electrical maintenance repair.
- Able to perform heavy manual labor independently or with others.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and MENTAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, use hands to finger, handle, grasp, pull, push, or feel; reach with hands and arms above shoulders and talk or hear and an ability to taste and smell. The employee will be sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined areas, perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time; drive motorized vehicles from site to site, and work in all types of outdoor weather.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
