Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized Boat Fleet Manager to join our fun and hardworking team in Newport Beach, CA. You will oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our fleet of sailboats (30-50 ft), power boats (35-41ft) and electric boats. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in boating, knowledge of boat maintenance, and excellent management skills. You will be responsible for maintaining fleet safety, managing schedules, ensuring compliance with Coast Guard regulations, coordinating work with contractors, and communicating with customers. 

Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Management & Maintenance:
  • Oversee the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of all boats in the fleet, ensuring they are in top operational condition. 
  • Schedule and/or perform regular maintenance, including inspections, engine servicing, rigging checks, and sail repairs.
  •  Coordinate seasonal preparations for boats, ensuring all vessels are ready for use in peak seasons, especially the summer months and the boat parade each December.
  •  Communicate with customers when they have caused damages.  Manage the repair process and coordinate with our accounting department to bill customers for repairs as necessary.

Leadership & Supervision:
  • Coordinate with contractors such as technicians, cleaning personnel, captains and crew members to ensure efficient and safe fleet operations.
  •  Ensure adequate contractor availability for maintenance during peak times.
  •  Foster a culture of safety and teamwork, encouraging adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
 Customer Experience:
 
  • Ensure that all boats are maintained to the highest standards for customer safety and satisfaction.
  •  Provide hands-on support to ensure smooth boat rentals, charters, and trips.
  •  Resolve any customer issues or concerns related to the fleet in a timely and professional manner.
 Purchasing & Inventory Management:
 
  • Oversee the purchasing and inventory of supplies, equipment, and spare parts needed for boat upkeep and operations.
  •  Track and manage fleet-related expenses, ensuring adherence to budget guidelines.
  •  Work with accounting to ensure customers are billed for damages.
Compliance & Safety:
 
  • Ensure that all boats meet local, state, and federal regulations regarding safety, environmental standards, and boating laws.
  •  Maintain documentation related to inspections and resolved problems.
 
Logistics & Scheduling:
  •  Coordinate fleet maintenance and scheduling so that it does not interfere with boat rentals, charters, or events.
  •  Communicate with customers and staff regarding boat availability, maintenance schedules, and any disruptions or updates.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience (1-3 years) in sailboat operations, fleet management, or a related maritime field.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of boats, engines, rigging, and marine systems.
  • Ability to dock powerboats and sailboats between 30 – 50’ solo.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to delegate tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to interact with clients in a professional, calm, and friendly manner.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and be physically active as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as may be necessary.
  • Knowledge of basic boat electronics, navigation systems, and communication equipment.
Working Conditions:
  • Work outdoors and on the water in varying weather conditions.
  • Available to work weekends, and holidays as needed, especially during the peak boating season (summer) if a problem arises.
  • Physical stamina/fitness is required, as the role involves occasional lifting, bending, as well as working on boats.

Compensation:
  • Starting salary is $70,000 and based on experience.
