CAD Designer (mechanical building systems)

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced CAD Designer to join a dynamic commercial construction firm in Devens, MA. This position will focus on developing and managing detailed 3D Revit models and technical drawings for HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing, and Process Piping systems. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring design accuracy, compliance, and coordination across all project disciplines, collaborating closely with stakeholders to deliver high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:

• Modeling and Drawing Creation:
• Develop and prepare detailed 3D Revit models and technical drawings for HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing, and Process Piping systems.
• Create, update, and manage BIM models to ensure coordination across mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
• Coordination and Collaboration:
• Perform clash detection using Revit and resolve design conflicts in collaboration with project stakeholders.
• Work closely with suppliers and vendors to integrate equipment specifications into designs.
• Support fabrication and installation teams by providing clear and precise technical drawings.
• Compliance and Documentation:
• Ensure designs meet applicable building codes, industry standards, and best practices.
• Maintain drawing files, BIM models, and documentation according to company standards and project requirements.
• Field Support and Adjustments:
• Conduct field visits as necessary to gather measurements and verify existing conditions.
• Revise designs based on client feedback, design changes, and field conditions.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience:
• 5 years of experience designing HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing, or Process Piping systems for commercial construction projects.
• Proficiency in Revit and related CAD software.
• Strong knowledge of BIM processes and workflows.
• Skills:
• Comprehensive understanding of building codes, mechanical systems, and construction practices.
• Ability to interpret engineering sketches, blueprints, and specifications.
• Work Style:
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with project stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a fast-paced, commercial construction environment.
• Familiarity with project management tools or workflows related to mechanical or industrial engineering.
• Strong communication skills to facilitate stakeholder coordination and support field operations.
