The city of Perris is seeking a Bridge Inspector to oversee construction oversight and compliance of the Ethanac Road Bridge over the San Jacinto River.
DUTIES :
Construction Oversight & Compliance
- Conducting daily inspections to ensure contractor work aligns with project plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Monitoring constructiona activities for compliance with contract requirements, safety regulations, and quality control standards.
- Ensuring adherence to environmental regulations, including stormwater pollution prevention and dust control measures.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintaining detailed daily inspection reports, including work performed, weather conditions, labor and equipment used, and potential issues.Documenting material deliveries, testing results, and construction progress for City records.Preparing field memos, deficiency notices, and non-compliance reports when necessary.Quality Control & Testing
Verifying contractor compliance with approved material submittals and mix designs.Coordinating with testing laboratories to ensure material and structural testing meet project specifications.Observing and documenting testing procedures for concrete, asphalt, soils, and other construction materials.Contractor Coordination & Issue Resolution
Conducting pre-construction meetings and verifying that the contractor follows proper start-up procedures.Monitoring work zone traffic control measures and ensuring compliance with safety standards.Assisting the Resident Engineer in reviewing contractor Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals.Providing recommendations on corrective actions for non-compliant work.Progress Monitoring & Communication
Attending construction meetings and providing input on field conditions, work progress, and safety concerns.Communicating with the Resident Engineer, contractor, and City representatives regarding project challenges and potential delays.Reviewing contractor's work schedules and verifying adherence to critical milestones.Project Closeout & Final Inspection
Assisting in punch list development and ensuring contractor addresses all deficiencies before project acceptance.Verifying as-built conditions and reviewing final documentation submitted by the contractor.Conducting final walk-through inspections and ensuring all required testing and certifications are completed.The Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring construction quality, contractor accountability, and compliance with project specifications.
Salary : Commensurate with Experience, PTO, Benefits
Salary : $140,000 - $160,000
