Material Handler I

Job Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for managing the movement of incoming and outgoing products throughout the facility.

This role ensures that materials are properly received, stored, and distributed to designated areas while adhering to safety guidelines and maintaining product quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow all workplace safety and product quality guidelines
• Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine materials to be moved or distributed
• Transport materials from receiving or production areas to designated locations
• Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, or product code
• Fill requisitions, work orders, and requests for materials, distributing items to production areas as needed
• Assemble customer orders from stock and prepare them for shipment on pallets
• Mark materials with identifying information and open bales, crates, and containers
• Record amounts of materials received or distributed and ensure compliance with company standards
• Use computers to enter records and operate material handling equipment
• Load and unload trailers with both palletized and non-palletized products
• Utilize manual and automated material handling equipment
• Follow safety and hygiene guidelines for housekeeping and personal protection
• Perform other duties as required to contribute to division results
  
  

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management
• Proficiency in reading and using warehouse computer software
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant work experience in material handling
