Overview

The CNC Field Service Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal operation and performance of CNC machinery across various client sites. This position requires a unique blend of technical expertise, mechanical aptitude, and customer-facing skills to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and provide training on CNC equipment. Working directly with clients in diverse industries, the CNC Field Service Engineer is integral to maintaining high uptime levels for CNC machinery, ultimately impacting production efficiency and customer satisfaction. With an emphasis on rapid response to service requests and proactive maintenance strategies, this role is crucial in building long-term client relationships and upholding the organization’s reputation for excellence in service delivery. The CNC Field Service Engineer must stay updated on the latest technological advancements in CNC machinery to provide informed recommendations and solutions, thereby enhancing operational capability for the clients they support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and configure CNC machines at client locations.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs on CNC equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and software issues with CNC systems.
  • Provide technical support to clients remotely and on-site.
  • Conduct training sessions for clients on CNC operation and maintenance.
  • Document service visits, including parts used and work performed.
  • Collaborate with engineering team to improve machine performance.
  • Assist clients in optimizing CNC programs and workflows.
  • Manage inventory of parts and tools necessary for repairs.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technology, and updates related to CNC machinery.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding service contracts and requirements.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships for future service opportunities.
  • Report and escalate complex issues to technical specialists when necessary.
  • Maintain safety standards and protocols during service operations.
  • Travel frequently to various client locations for service assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3 years of experience in CNC machine servicing or related experience.
  • Proficient in CNC programming and operation.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Familiarity with CAD / CAM software is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Customer-facing experience with a strong service orientation.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations.
  • Certification in relevant technical areas is a plus.
  • Experience with machinery electronics and servo systems.
  • Willing to participate in ongoing training and development.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and technologies.
