Surgery - General Nurse Practitioner

Locums Cardiothoracic NP/PA Job in Williamsport, Pennsylvania

We are seeking a board certified or truly board eligible NP/PA to fill a locum job opening in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Clinical Role:

This position requires a provider with previous CT surgery experience. The ideal candidate will have scrubbing experience for CT Surgery as a First Assist and be able to endoscopic vein harvesting.

The APP will work Monday through Friday from 7am-6pm and be on night call from 6pm-7am. Weekend call is 7am-7am with rounding approximately 10am-4pm.

The provider will be responsible for scheduling surgical cases and rotating on call for emergency off-hours cases. They will also be expected to round and see patients in the hospital.

Setting:

The physicians field all calls overnight. If cases are scheduled, the APP will scrub with the team or print a list and discuss with other team members to divide and conquer the patient list. They will discuss any issues with the physician and sign off for their patients.

The average number of patients per day/night varies but is minimal, with surgeons taking overnight first call. The APP would only be on for emergency surgical call.

Team Dynamics:

There are two floor APPs and two surgical APPs, usually with three to four providers on at a time. Case volume varies but typically includes one to two cases per day throughout the week. Weekend call rotates but tries to stick to a schedule.

Procedures:

The provider will be performing procedures such as CABG, thoracic cases, AVR, TAVR, and aortic cases. They will use EMRs Cerner and EPIC.
