We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to become an integral part of our team. In this role, you will work closely with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to support the delivery of high-quality, empathetic care to our patients. Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, diagnostics, and medical procedures
- Safely and compassionately handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Administer medications and treatments under the guidance of licensed staff
- Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any changes promptly
- Prepare animals for surgery, including assisting with catheter placement when needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and low-stress environment throughout the clinic
- Support basic care tasks such as feeding, bathing, and exercising animals
- Ensure proper sanitation of exam rooms, kennels, and equipment
- Greet clients, schedule appointments, and assist with front desk responsibilities as needed
- Adhere to aseptic techniques and safety protocols at all times
- Perform other supportive duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualities
- Proficiency in low-stress animal handling techniques
- Working knowledge of aseptic practices for clinical procedures
- Experience with kennel care, including cleanliness and animal well-being
- Familiarity with veterinary front desk operations and client service
- A strong understanding of basic pet care practices
- Ability to accurately administer medications under supervision
- Foundational knowledge of animal physiology and behavior
- Experience with catheterization is a plus, particularly in surgical prep
- Exposure to equine care is helpful but not required
- A calm, compassionate demeanor with both animals and people
