What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant/Technician position at Red Barn Veterinary Hospital?
We are looking to expand our team! We are a privately owned small animal practice that prides ourself on our excellent patient care and customer service. This team member makes up the nursing staff while working alongside the doctors, nurses, receptionist, and management team. This position is the core role of patient care!
Daily responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Clean Kennels/Runs throughout the day
- Ensure sanitary working conditions
- General Housekeeping
- Safe Handling/Restraint of Patients
- Restraining for exams and treatments
- Radiology
- Laboratory
- Patient Treatments
- How to prepare for and place IVC
- Sedated Patient Care
- Setting up for procedures
- Monitoring & Patient Care
- Surgery suite prep
- Pre-op and Post-op Requirements
- Isolation Protocols
- Emergency Patient Care
- Client education
- Knowledge about all flea/tick/heartworm prevention in the hospital
- Knowledge about puppy and kitten care/visits
- Knowledge about vaccines & vaccine protocols
- Show understanding and compassion
- Help answer phones as needed and help the front desk team schedule appointments as needed
- Team player
- Be able to help others as needed
- Fill prescriptions
The ideal candidate would have veterinary experience, but we are willing to train any candidate with the drive to learn! Pay is based on experience level.
