We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Part-Time Spotter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will excel in operating semi-trucks with trailers or yard tractors to move trailers efficiently within the yard and to loading docks. This role requires close collaboration with warehouse personnel, strict adherence to safety protocols, effective communication, and full compliance with transportation regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely maneuver trailers within the yard, ensuring they are positioned correctly for loading and unloading at designated docks.
- Collaborate closely with warehouse personnel to schedule trailer movements, secure trailer doors, and maintain an organized yard environment.
- Rigorously follow safety guidelines, conduct thorough vehicle inspections, and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain clear and effective communication with the team, report any yard issues promptly, and provide comprehensive shift change briefings.
- Accurately maintain records of trailer movements and report any damages or operational issues immediately.
- Perform pre-trip inspections, report mechanical issues, and maintain detailed maintenance records.
- Proactively identify and suggest improvements for yard operations to enhance efficiency.
- Be ready to respond to emergencies following established protocols.
- Engage in training programs, attend safety meetings, and complete all mandatory training sessions.
- Adhere to environmental guidelines and ensure proper storage of hazardous materials.
- Ensure cleanliness in the operational areas and vehicles, maintaining a safe and tidy work environment.
- Strictly adhere to company policies, including the Standards of Conduct, Drug & Alcohol, Equal Opportunity (EO), and Sexual Harassment policies. Comply with the no-smoking policy.
Qualifications
- A steadfast commitment to maintaining a 100% accident and injury-free workplace.
- Possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or for non-CDL applicants, a clean driving license with a strong safety record.
- A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in Class A driving, yard spotting, or related roles.
- Ability to report for duty on short notice when needed to cover shifts.
- Willingness to work a 12-hour shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Proven experience operating yard (spotter) tractors in a demanding environment.
- Strong focus on safety and accuracy in all tasks.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
- Maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and valid Medical Card.
- Must be registered with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse (for CDL applicants).
- Steel toe shoes are mandatory for this role.
Compensation
- $17.00 to $18.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

We alternate between two work schedules every three months:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and every other Sunday, 6 PM to 6 AM.
- Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and every other Sunday, 6 PM to 6 AM.
