Role Description
Red Cedar Homes is looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. Our accounting department supports and serves all facets of Red Cedar Homes’ vertically integrated real estate development business. The Staff Accountant position will be responsible for several critical tasks within our accounting team and will gain valuable exposure to all areas of our business including real estate development, construction, partnership accounting and financial reporting. This position will play a vital role in accounting for and supporting real estate transactions, debt management, bank reconciliations, financial reporting, daily transaction postings and much more. At Red Cedar Homes, teamwork is of the utmost importance and therefore we are looking for someone who is comfortable working with a close-knit team and exhibits a true “team player” mentality on a consistent basis.
Primary Responsibilities
- • Review KPI’s and financial reports for completeness, accuracy, and compliance
- • Assist in month end close processes
- • Complete balance sheet reconciliations
- • Ensure that appropriate controls and compliance processes are in place and being followed
- • Make recommendations for process improvements and automation opportunities
- • Prepare journal entries including “HUD” entries for all types of real estate transactions
- • Prepare various schedules as required by management
- • Prepare planned and ad-hoc reports
- • Play a lead role in debt management tracking and maintenance
- • Assist in planning and implementing special projects planned for 2024 and 2025

- • 2-3 years accounting experience (within homebuilding, construction or manufacturing industries a plus)
Education & Experience
- • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- • Experience in recording accounting entries (accruals, prepaids) and creating journal entries
- • Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals
- • Advanced Microsoft Office skills required; high proficiency in Excel is a must.
- • Strong analytical skills.
Schedule:
- • Monday-Friday, standard daytime hours; 8 am - 5 pm. Occasional weekend work may be required.
Job Type:
- • Full-time position, averaging 40 hours per week.
Salary Range:
- • $65,000-$75,000 per year

Work Environment:
- • Office-based environment with a business casual dress code. Standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines, are used in this role.
Physical Demands:
- • The role requires the ability to talk and hear, stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Occasional lifting of office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds, may be necessary. Some travel might be required.
