TITLE: ESS Lead Teacher – High School
EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Ten (10) months. Salary and work year are to be established by the board.
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Certified Salary Schedule
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITES: Under general supervision, the ESS Lead Teacher teaches one or more classes to students in grades 9 through 12, assists in other school programs as assigned, and creates a flexible program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth in accordance with each student's ability. Follows in accordance with the goals and directives of the district and the state. Helps students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated locations and specific times.
- Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Prepares for assigned classes, and shows written evidence of preparation upon the request of immediate superior.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and-in harmony with the goals-establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like. Communicates these objectives to students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media; consistent with the physical limitations of the provided location and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Strives to implement, by instruction and action, the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Recognizes and evaluates the learning and other disabilities of students on a regular basis; seeks the assistance or referral of district specialists as required.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct; and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for Paraprofessional(s).
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attends requisite staff meetings and serves on staff committees as needed.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which he/she will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.
- Communicates with parents and school counselors and student progress.
- Cooperates in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom activities.
- Participates in faculty and/or District committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
- Performs other necessary duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Valid Elementary or Secondary Arizona teaching certificate and appropriate endorsements as required.
Experience: Highly qualified preferred and experience working with ESS classes or students.
License: Driver License
CERTIFICATION: Arizona Secondary Education Certification, Prefer Endorsement in Mathematics and/or Language Art. Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
