Materials Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Profile:

The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing material flow throughout the operation including facility transfers, storage, and inventory control. The Materials Manager will work closely with Production Scheduling, Warehouse, Distribution, and Procurement to ensure materials are available to meet Plant Production and Customer Service needs. The Materials Manager is responsible for onsite inventory controls that maintain optimal inventory levels and promotes a Lean and Safe work environment for all Employees. The Materials Manager will be proficient with the Companies ERP system and exhibit strong analytical skills that promote fast and accurate decision making and strategic guidance. The Materials Manager will assist Production Planning and Procurement with providing the Business with extended views of material and production needs.

Job Accountabilities and Duties:

• Inventory Control.  Maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure that Operational needs are met that provides on-time Customer Service. Will oversee the Companies Cycle Count and Op’s Admin Teams.
• Provides Production and Materials Forecasts. Effectively communicates horizonal production and materials demand that assists with proactive planning.
• Production Scheduling.        Understands variables, such as product sequencing and production run times, that impact production efficiencies. Position has direct responsibility for Scheduling Manager. Acts as the frontline back up and contingency for the Production Scheduling function.
• Provides data and scorecards related to Performance KPI’s. Formal communication of Raw Materials and Finished Goods Inventory Health. Proactively alerts the Business of any shortcomings in Materials.
• Assimilates data and information. Understands the multiple variables that impact the Business and evaluates those variables on an on-going basis to improve Operational Process Flow. Identifies opportunities that assist with improving material storage, production efficiency, and overall spending.  Collects data from ERP and other sources to ensure fast and accurate decision making.
• Customer Service Focused.  Understands the beginning and end concept of a complete Supply Chain that has focus on satisfying the needs of our customers.
• Teamwork and Collaboration.  Acts as a key member of the team.  Actively engages in team meetings and provides timely feedback to team. May provide and/or receive input from across functional boundaries.  Understands organizational mesh points and potential synergies. Integrates team efforts across business segments and channels.  Understands available resources, both in the department and outside of the department and utilizes those resources when appropriate.

• Reports to Sr. Director of Operations

Incumbent Profile:

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2 years of work experience working with production scheduling, production and inventory planning, and/or data analysis
• Demonstrated work experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Sound analytical ability, including the ability to analyze data and make sound recommendations.
• Excellent data collection and organization skills
• Ability to manage multiple data from multiple sources and platforms. Working knowledge of applicable platforms.
• Must be organized, detail oriented, and be able to manage multiple tasks with varying priorities.
• Expert Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and proficiency with ERP systems.
• Must be able to enter the production areas daily while meeting Plant GMP Rules.
• Must be able to commute between facilities when needed.
