Camp Naturalist – Environmental Education Instructor
Location: Red Oak Camp – Kirtland, Ohio
Pay: $615 per week
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:15 PM (35 hours per week, 5 activity periods per day)
About Red Oak Camp
At Red Oak Camp, nature is the classroom. Our Science Center and surrounding forest provide the perfect environment for campers to explore plants, animals, and geology through hands-on activities.
Job Overview
As a Camp Naturalist, you will lead 5 activity periods per day, helping campers identify leaves, study rocks, observe wildlife, and explore nature. All lesson plans and materials are provided, so you can focus on engaging and inspiring campers without having to create your own curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Teach campers about trees, rocks, wildlife, and ecosystems in small group lessons.
- Lead nature walks, animal tracking sessions, and hands-on identification activities.
- Use the Science Center and camp property to bring lessons to life.
- Follow a structured schedule with repeatable lessons for different groups.
- Encourage curiosity, teamwork, and a love for the outdoors.
- Ensure safety and engagement during all activities.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Background in environmental education, nature studies, or outdoor instruction preferred.
- Enthusiasm for teaching kids about the natural world.
- Ability to lead fun, hands-on lessons with provided resources.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
