Red Oak Management is currently seeking a compliance specialist to join the growing team at our corporate office in Cedar Springs, MI. Red Oak Management is a leader in the affordable housing management industry since 1984.
This role ensures compliance with HUD, Tax Credit, USDA Rural Development, LIHTC and other applicable guidelines. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional communicator, problem solver, and team player who thrives in repetition. Strong mathematical skills, project management, and document management skills, the ability to take initiative, and to interact effectively in a diverse environment are essential to this position.
Duties and Responsibilities
Compliance and Regulatory Responsibilities:
- Ensuring compliance with HUD, Tax Credit, USDA Rural Development, LIHTC, and other applicable guidelines.
- Responsibilities include waiting list administration, applicant initial eligibility package and paperwork, addressing/correcting any audit findings, and other duties to support the compliance team.
- Attend paid training classes either in person or online to obtain certification in tax credit compliance.
- Ability to produce certification packages with detail and minimal error.
Property Management and Staff Supervision:
- Ability to fill vacant units, get applications ready for upcoming vacancies by using waiting list administration with the site manager.
- A property management corporate office site team player, willing to work in areas needed.
- Supervise and direct all site staff, site manager, cleaning tech, maintenance tech, and vendors when on-site working.
- Other duties as needed to support the property management team. Work will be approved by the Compliance Manager.
Project and Task Management:
- Manage multiple projects/tasks in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment with telephone interruptions.
- Excellent computer skills, experience with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets required.
- Learn property management software.
Physical and Travel Requirements:
- Requires the ability to walk, climb stairs, and carry over 25 lbs.
- Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel on limited occasions.
- Requires the ability to read, speak, and comprehend the English language.
Salary commensurate with experience.
