Job Title: Material Expediter LEAD LH β HMSO
Position Summary
The Material Expediter is responsible for performing various duties throughout the work area to facilitate the expedient movement of goods.
Essential Functions of the Position
- Locate and move materials and parts between work areas of plant to expedite processing of goods, according to predetermined schedules and priorities.
- Confer with department supervisors to determine materials overdue and to inform them of location, availability, and condition of materials.
- Locate and moves materials to specified production areas, using cart or hand truck, and records quantity and type of materials distributed and on hand.
- Direct power truck operators or material handling laborer to expedite movement of materials between storage and production areas.
- Compare work ticket specifications with materials at workstations to verify appropriateness of material in use.
- Manage redistribution of shelf-life items in accordance with AR 710-2, DA PAM 710-2-2, and AR 735-5.
- Identify, issue, receive, verify, store, turn in, ship and dispose of radioactive material and HAZMAT in accordance with AR 200-1, AR 710-2, TM 38-410, applicable local SOP and Installation Regulation.
- Scan partially used HAZMAT returned to HMSO for tracking purposes and (if required) the remaining contents shall be weighed, and the weight entered into a tracking system. Re-usable items will be returned to inventory and issued to the next user as free issue.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Lead other staff on-site in daily routine work functions.
Physical Demands
- Required to walk, stand, sit and move about the property for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
- This position is classified as Low Hazard.
- Indoor/Outdoor; exposure to external environmental conditions possible.
- Noise level can range from minimal to intense.
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of job-related, documented, verifiable experience is desired.
- A High school diploma or GED is required.
- Must have a valid drivers license.
- Knowledge in specialized handling and storage procedures of hazardous materials as required by regulation and safety requirements.
- Specific training and thorough knowledge in warehouse operations plus a working knowledge of warehouse related computer software.
- Good written and spoken communication and analytical skills.
