The Manager of Financial Shared Services is a hands-on “roll up your sleeves” position and expected to manage the team which processes day-to-day payroll and accounts payable operations. This position supports new and existing systems, manages vendor payables and relationships, Payroll operations, drives process standardization, automation, and improvement to ensure process efficiency and effectiveness. This role is part of the Finance Team under the CFO and will be based in Chantilly, VA.
Primary Position Tasks:
  • Manage the team which processes end-to-end payroll processing utilizing payroll and HR systems (ADP Workforce Now and Workday) and accounts payable, utilizing Costpoint and NAV
  • Provide leadership development to direct report(s) to optimize operational excellence and create experienced talent. Assist team with their work, including driving process improvements to help with quality and efficiency
  • Develop and maintain relationships with HR, Accounting, and FP&A teams throughout the payroll and accounts payable cycles
  • Strong knowledge of statutory regulations, working knowledge of payroll and accounts payable best practices and ensure compliance with internal policies
  • Function as a strategic partner and contribute process improvement for system implementations/upgrades
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures and audits to ensure policies and procedures are being adhered to and ensure cross training for all types of transactions
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare weekly/monthly/yearly reports as well as analyze the data for keeping track of KPI’s
  • Communicate well both verbally and in writing with all levels across the organization
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and deliver insightful, practical, and sustainable solutions
  • Maintain an eye for detail; demonstrate accuracy, and exercise confidentiality & neutrality in complex and sensitive situations
  • Resolve issues and answer payroll and accounts payable related questions
  • Assist with streamlining the vendor setup and 1099 process for AP
Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:
  • BA/BS degree in business/accounting or equivalent
  • At least 10 years of experience with payroll and accounts payable systems
  • At least 5-8 years of proven management/supervisory skills
Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:
  • Experience with ADP Workforce NOW, NAV, Concur and Workday
  • Experience with managing a remote team
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Possess competency in:
    • Payroll, Payroll taxes and Accounts Payable Processing, including expense report processing
    • Microsoft applications, especially Word and must be proficient in Excel
    • Compliance Knowledge in areas related to AP and Payroll, including taxes, DCAA, 1099 and IRS regulatory knowledge
    • Discretion
    • Excellent written and verbal Communication and organizational skills
    • GAAP knowledge
Essential Elements (Mental; Physical; Equipment used):
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.
This position requires the ability to continuously communicate with many departments within Red River and collaborate to answer customer questions and make improvements within the processes.
