What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Work Incentive Coordinator (CWIC) position at RED ROCK BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES?
SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to provide counseling and assistance to individuals who are considering or anticipating changes in their employment situation. This position is to provide information and guidance to IPS employment specialists and provide participants assistance in obtaining comprehensive, individualized work incentives planning. CWICs must be able to travel independently throughout our service delivery area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide guidance on benefits, work incentives, and employment services available to consumers
- Provide comprehensive, individualized work incentives planning for participants prior to job start
- Provide information and assistance about reporting earnings to SSA, housing programs, etc., depending on the person’s benefits
- Facilitate access to work incentives planning when clients need to make decisions about changes in work hours and pay
- Work incentives planning includes SSA benefits, medical benefits, medication subsidies, housing subsidies, food stamps, spouse and dependent children benefits, past job retirement benefits and other source of income
- Provide information to beneficiaries on health benefits coverage options that may be available
- Show knowledge of SSA’s SSDI and SSI disability program and work incentives as well as other federal, state, and local work incentive programs and be able to communicate this knowledge in an effective and easy-to-understand manner
- Promote employment and self-sufficiency through the use of work incentives
- Maintain effective and ongoing communication with the IPS team(s)
- Provides quality service to consumers with accurate and timely processing of paperwork
- Maintains meet contractual or agency requirements of programs
- Maintains positive communication linkage with outside supportive sources
- Maintains core competencies in relation to working with co-occurring disorders through continuing education and implementing skills into all aspects of treatment
- Completes all required documentation in a thorough and timely fashion
- Attends all scheduled meetings, staff meetings, workshops, and seminars to enhance learning in the areas of housing for the homeless, for individuals who are mentally ill, dually diagnosed, HIV positive, and Veterans to meet appropriate philosophy/standards, and agency policies & procedures
- Participates in on-going in-service training
- Maintains confidentiality and informs clients of rights and obtains necessary authorization for obtaining and releasing information
- Assisted in benefits coordination as CWIC benefits specialist for all of Red Rock
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school degree, one year of mental health experience, two years preferred
- Obtained relevant training. CWIC, SOAR, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- General skill in exercising independent judgment, tact, patience, understanding, and in maintaining effective working relationships with tenants, other staff, and the community
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Valid Oklahoma Driver’s license, automobile insurance, and a clean driving record
- Commitment to the mission of Red Rock BHS
- Experience working with mentally ill adults preferred
- Experience in community outreach
