Summary of Position

The Student Engagement and Retention Coordinator is a key position dedicated to promoting student success, with a special focus on historically underserved and at-risk students in STEM disciplines. This role works closely with the Student Affairs team to develop and implement strategies aimed at improving student retention, engagement, and academic achievement. The coordinator will provide personalized advising in areas such as academic pathways, financial aid, career planning, and personal development, while organizing activities that foster a supportive and inclusive campus environment. Work is generally performed in a standard office environment. Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm. May require hours outside of regular office hours. May require work at both campuses.

The coordinator will also monitor student progress, utilize data-driven strategies to identify and address barriers to persistence, and ensure the effective execution of student engagement programs. This position is instrumental in fostering a sense of belonging, academic motivation, and student persistence, helping students navigate their college journey and work towards successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with the Student Affairs team to create and evaluate comprehensive support strategies for at-risk students, including advising on academic pathways, financial aid, career planning, and personal development.
  • Monitor student progress by assessing academic performance, attendance, and engagement. Use data to identify barriers to retention and make informed recommendations for intervention.
  • Provide one-on-one advising for students, offering tailored support to address both academic and personal needs.
  • Organize and oversee student engagement activities, ensuring that programs foster a sense of community and academic success.
  • Maintain accurate student records, ensuring that both electronic and hard-copy files are well-organized and up to date.

  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.

    Starting Salary

    Starting salary range for this position is $47,396 - $52,136 annually, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt grant funded position and contingent upon continued funding. position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
