Position Summary:
The Part-Time Staff Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day and long-term financial functions of Red Wing Arts. This in-office role requires acute attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to accuracy and completion. The ideal candidate is collaborative, growth-minded, and capable of supporting an evolving organization with increasingly complex financial needs.
This role includes responsibility for preparing financial reports, managing payroll and payables, tracking restricted funds, and supporting audit preparation. It’s a great fit for someone who brings experience and wants to contribute meaningfully to a mission-driven, creative team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks Online
- Process accounts payable and receivable; manage vendor and donor records
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly
- Manage payroll and PTO tracking in partnership with our payroll provider
- Prepare monthly financial reports for internal review and board meetings
- Assist the Executive Director with the annual organizational budget and tracking of program budgets
- Track restricted funds and assist with grant budget management
- Prepare and organize documentation for the annual audit
- File required forms such as 1099s and ensure nonprofit compliance
- File sales tax returns and maintain related records
- Maintain well-organized financial files and shared documentation systems
- Communicate proactively with the Executive Director and team to support timely, accurate financial operations
Qualifications:
- 5 years of professional accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Nonprofit or fund accounting experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel
- Acute attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to meeting deadlines
- Desire to grow within the role, support the evolving needs of the organization, and demonstrate a natural ability to learn new systems and processes
Compensation:
- The hourly rate for this position is $25–$30/hour, based on experience and qualifications.
