What You Can Expect Working in the Drafter Position

The Drafter interacts daily with Sales, Estimating, and Production, and occasionally with outside engineering resources, to generate accurate and detailed floorplans of storm shelters and other industrial buildings from sketches and verbal instructions. Extended periods of time will be spent working at the CAD station and/or walking the production floor verifying drawing accuracy, completeness and confirming the most current and latest drawings revisions are issued in the appropriate project workbook in accordance with RedGuard Diversified Structures’ document control requirements.  

Responsibilities

• Creates various floor plan layouts as needed for assigned projects, deciding, and determining product placement, interference checking, and plan view layouts.
• Makes final quality drawing design package, checking dimensions of parts and the relation of one section to another.
• Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
• Draws finished designs from initial sketches or verbal instructions.
• Uses computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software
• Works with Project Managers, Engineers, and Manufacturing team to create and update shop drawings.

Minimum Qualifications

• 1 years of drafting experience.
• Proficiency in Autodesk programs (AutoCAD).
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Degree or other Technical Program.
