WHAT WE DO
Our Children's Services program offers mental health services to school aged youth at home, school, or in their community. Our staff have smaller caseloads, are able to see clients one or more times a week, and have flexible schedules. This helps to ensure that a child's services are not disrupted due to transportation or family scheduling concerns.
At ReDiscover, while every day is different, a typical day may include the following roles and responsibilities:
- Provide biopsychosocial assessment and case management services as appropriate for children and youth who are ReDiscover clients.
- Assess children and families accurately and completely using all the diagnostic tools required.
- Develop treatment plans that match the needs of the child/family/community and works toward meeting goals of the treatment plan.
- Follows through with all tasks and interventions that are identified by all parties involved
- Integrates service provision to all parties to address the needs of the client.
- Demonstrates clinically sound judgment and seeks appropriate supervision and/or training for difficult or hard to serve clients
- Maintains clear concise communication that is timely and accurate with all parties to the service provision.
- Meets with clients/families within the timeframes established by the program.
We are focused on your development and will spend time helping you continue to grow as a School Based Qualified Mental Health Professional. However, here are some things that you will need prior to starting with ReDiscover:
- Availability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of clients enrolled in the program.
- Master’s or Doctorate Degree in a social science field (as defined by the Department of Mental Health).
- Candidate must possess current Missouri credentials as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or a Licensed Master’s of Social Work (LMSW) or a provisionally licensed as a PLPC can be considered.
- The ability to work with all persons with multiple challenges (mental illness, substance abuse, physical challenges, developmental disabilities, etc.).
- A valid automobile operator’s license, vehicle and state minimum require automobile coverage is required.
- At least two (2) years clinical experience in a direct service provision to children and adolescents in a mental health setting preferred.
- Knowledge of the community resources as well as health and social service systems in the Kansas City metro area and skill in establishing working relationships with community partners preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as GSuite.
