Redlands Community College (RCC) is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Student Engagement Assistant for the NASNTI (Native American-Serving Non-Tribal Institutions) Part F Grant position. The Student Engagement Assistant is responsible for front desk duties in the RCC Student Services Department. This role involves assisting the department with all aspects of student success and engagement. This position is funded by the NASNTI (Native American-Serving Non-Tribal Institutions) Part F grant.
Responsibilities include:
- Front Desk Reception: Serve as the first point of contact for students, providing a welcoming and supportive environment.
- Information Dissemination: Provide accurate information to students about NASNTI programs, services, events, and available resources.
- Student Inquiries: Address and resolve student inquiries, directing them to the appropriate resources or staff members as needed.
- Appointment Scheduling: Assist students in scheduling appointments with academic advisors, career counselors, and other support services.
- Resource Coordination: Maintain and distribute informational materials, brochures, and flyers related to student success programs and services.
- Student Success: Assist in developing and implementing programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing student success, retention, and completion rates.
- Engagement Activities: Promote activities, events, and workshops designed to foster a sense of community and belonging among Native American students.
- Cultural Awareness: Promote cultural awareness and sensitivity within the RCC community, ensuring that programs and services are inclusive and respectful of Native American cultures and traditions.
The Student Engagement Assistant reports to the NASNTI Part F Director. This position adheres to the educational philosophy of the college and works collaboratively with colleagues and professional peers. Participation in meetings related specifically to the NASNTI Part F grant is required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience working with Native American students or communities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students, staff, and community members.
- Knowledge of student services and resources available within higher education institutions.
- Preference given to individuals who have succeeded in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the target population.
