What are the responsibilities and job description for the Local Dispatcher position at Redman Van & Storage?
We are looking for a reliable Dispatcher to be the example and leader for our local crews. The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator and able to remain calm and composed, especially in stressful situations. You must be able to multi-task as well as take the appropriate action with little supervision. The goal is to maintain a profitable efficient operation while keeping safety a priority.
Responsibilities
- Address problems and requests by communication and providing solutions
- Work hand in hand with schedulers and warehouse
- Train crews and continue to oversee their daily activities providing feedback and ensuring accuracy and safety
- Receive and dispatch orders for pick-ups or deliveries daily
- Prioritize daily activities according to urgency and importance
- Monitor the route and status of crews to coordinate and prioritize their schedule using Dispatch Track and Geo Tab.
- Provide crews with information about orders, obstacles and requirements
- Enter data in computer system and maintain daily records of activities and other information
- Assist in the hiring, firing, training and discipline of the local crews
- Assist in assuring the trucks are maintained, clean and safe
- Maintain control and account for all equipment such as dollies, 4 wheelers, etc.
- Maintain a clean parking lot
Skills
- Proven experience as dispatcher or relevant position
- Tech-savvy with knowledge of relevant methods
- Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities
- Active listener with excellent communication skills
- Sound judgement and critical thinking
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members and clients
- Proficient in logistics and dispatching processes
- Experience with transportation management systems and fleet management
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
- Familiarity with GPS and GIS technologies
- Typing skills
- Drivers license with good driving record
Knowledge and experience of the moving industry a plus!
Would prefer to hire someone with a CDL, but not required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
