We’re hiring a Project Engineer II to join our team. This role will be focused on high value corporate interiors and special projects, specifically in Chicago's loop and surrounding neighborhoods. Ideal candidates will have experience supporting complex interior projects with strong attention to detail, documentation management, preconstruction processes, and client service standards. A thoughtful, collaborative, creative mindset is critical for this role.

Qualifications
Candidates should have at least three years of experience as a Project Engineer in commercial interior construction, with preconstruction and estimating experience being critical to the role. Top candidates will have a degree in construction management, architecture, or project management, but there is no specific degree requirement. Candidates must be proficient in managing RFIs, submittals, insurance and contract administration, and document coordination. This is a technical role that also requires a high level of engagement and communication.
Role & Responsibilities:
General:
- Understanding estimating processes & practices
- Construction document review - thorough understanding of drawings and documents
- Maintain a positive, proactive attitude
- High attention to detail
- Clear, direct, consistent verbal and written communication with trade partners, project partners, and project team
- Site coverage for superintendents as needed
Technical:
- Assist with set up of project folders & template documents
- Migrate estimating into Operations folders in drive with proper file structure and naming conventions
- Assist with permit process
Experience with preconstruction and estimating processes - Set up new projects in Procore
- Create electronic Superintendent Binder in Procore
- Send NTPs
- Manage MSA/work order process once values and scopes are approved by PM & Team Lead
- Create OAC agendas - reviewed by PM
- Create project progress photo report for OACs
- Document OAC meeting minutes
- Manage submittal process - with PM oversight
- Create and manage procurement log - make phone calls to trade partners weekly and twice/week to check status of products, followed by email documentation
- Assist with RFIs
- Data entry for financial master
- Send accounting questionnaire and ensure delivery to Accounting
- New vendor setup: ensure new vendor data is entered in MSA tracking sheet and follow up with Operations for modified MSA documents when required
- Send monthly % complete request/COR log to trade partners for pencils by 8th of each month with hard deadline for acknowledgement & response
- Create commitments and COs in procore
- Reconcile FM with Procore each month prior to pencil submission to Accounting
- Manage Day 2 items with oversight from PX
- Manage closeout documentation in Procore and distribution to Owner
- Assist with punch list documentation - iPad management on site during punch
- Full ability to manage financial master
- Full understanding of pencil draw and pay application process
- Develop accurate project schedules
