What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN- Assisted Living position at Redstone Village Retirement Community?

The community’s Life Care program is designed to enhance and promote mental, physical and spiritual wellness throughout life and offers access to independent living, assisted living, memory support, skilled nursing and rehabilitation.
What will you do:
- Explain procedures and treatments to residents to gain cooperation, understanding and alleviate stress and apprehension
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques; annotates time and amount on patient charts. Knowledge of common action, usual dosage and side effects
- Responsible for documentation of patient condition; records in the clinical record and reports all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in the patient’s condition.
- Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of resident
- Observe patient’s conditions and reaction to drugs, treatments and significant incidents
- Take resident’s vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assesses condition of resident
- Respond to live-saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures and protocol
- Examine food trays for prescribed diet and sets up/feeds patients as needed
- Record food and fluid intake/output when ordered by MD.
- Follow up with residents, family and/or physician offices on lab results, including scheduling additional tests
- Coordinate referrals/appointments for patients and physician offices
- Obtain, carry out and follow physician orders.
- Orients new admissions and personnel to unit.
- Manages nursing unit which includes planning daily and/or weekly work assignments and breaks. Ensures adequate staffing and directs duties of CNAs.
- Provide impute for job performance evaluations and employee performance conferences for CNA’s.
