Job Overview
As a Base Brands employee, the Senior Category Advisor will lead the category management efforts for the Kids Tabletop and Adult Hydration Category at Walmart (D14). This role is essential in driving category growth through strategic insights, data analysis, and collaboration with Walmart’s merchant team. The ideal candidate should be curious, creative and data driven with an eye for detail. This person must have the ability to synthesize data into insights and implement positive business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Insights: Serve as the go-to resource for category insights and analytics, providing unbiased leadership and strategic guidance utilizing Circana ALR and; Checkout, Luminate Shopper Behavior and Channel Intelligence
- Data Synthesis: Leverage multiple data sources to generate actionable insights that drive category growth, synthesizing complex information into clear recommendations.
- Omni-Channel Strategy: Develop in-depth analyses and storytelling to create a customized Omni-Channel
- vision supporting Walmart’s category strategy.
- Merchandising Implementation: Execute Walmart’s merchandising vision and modular processes, delivering comprehensive KPI reporting. Provide merchant team with item maintenance opportunities.
- Opportunity Identification: Proactively identify marketplace opportunities to enhance category growth and shopper engagement.
- Space Management Expertise: Modular drawing (2 major and 1 minor modular changes) and Seasonal modulars.
- Customer Engagement: Build and maintain long-term relationships with Walmart Buyers, delivering detailed analyses and insights.
- Communication: Share best practices and insights with divisional and corporate teams, ensuring effective communication of results and strategies.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in a relevant field.
Experience:
- 5 years in category management or related roles, with specific experience in Walmart advisorship
- Proven ability to analyze and interpret data
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in JDA, Luminate, Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel), and syndicated data sources (Circana).
Leadership and Communication:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and motivate team members.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, adept at presenting complex information clearly.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of integrating diverse information streams into actionable insights.
Collaboration: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, managing competing priorities effectively.
Travel: Willingness to travel 10% of the time.
Eligibility: This position is limited to individuals with indefinite right to work in the United States.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $125,000 base salary, plus performance-based bonuses
