Description

Summary

GDR Group is currently seeking a highly driven and self-motivated Business Development Engineer to support the sales team and generate new opportunities for IT Managed, Co-Managed, and Professional Services. The ideal candidate should be results-oriented, detail-focused, and possess a strong desire to achieve success. This role requires a technical and client-focused individual. Responsibilities include prospecting technical sales support, performing technical assessments, and identifying organizations or events that will connect us with potential prospects.

The salary range for this is role is $90,000 - $135,000.  *The posted on-target earnings range is comprised of a base salary and commission.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Sales Support: Assist the sales team with technical inquiries and gather detailed technical information on prospects.
  • Assessments: Conduct technical assessments, both as a deliverable and to aid in scoping services or projects.
  • Project Scoping: Develop comprehensive project scopes for prospects and existing clients that outline the technical requirements, timelines, costs, and deliverables.
  • Client Interaction: Engage with clients to understand their needs, present technical solutions, and build strong relationships.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the sales team throughout the sales cycle. Support other departments to ensure a positive project delivery.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of client interactions, project scopes, and technical documentation.
  • Expertise: Keep up to date with evolving technology, taking the initiative to develop and maintain a broad expertise. Collaborate with other engineers when additional experience is required.
  • Culture and Mission: Develop and maintain a deep understanding of GDR Group’s service offering, value proposition, and partner-first approach.
  • Conversion: Meet or exceed annual sales goals.

Project Execution: From time to time, assist the professional services team when additional resources are necessary. Revenue generating activities will take priority.

Qualifications


Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Minimum of five years in a technical role with a strong set of experience in the following:
    • Microsoft 365 Modern Work (i.e. Exchange Online, Intune, Defender, Entra)
    • Microsoft Azure Infrastructure
    • Endpoint and Infrastructure Compute Hardware (i.e. Dell)
    • Microsoft Windows and Server Operating Systems
      • Server Roles (i.e. Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Cert Auth)
    • Network Hardware (i.e. Meraki/Cisco, HPE/Aruba, Fortinet, SonicWALL)
    • Network Concepts (i.e. Routing, DNS, VPN, SD-WAN)
    • Prior experience in a sales engineer or technical sales support role is a big plus
    • Prior experience in IT Managed Services is a major plus
  • Ability to translate business needs into IT Solutions
  • Highly professional presentation
  • Ability to travel within GDR Group’s geographic targets
  • Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly evolving technology and apply it to business needs
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong organizational, presentation, follow up and customer-service skills
  • Skill in preparing high-quality written communications and presentations
  • Proficient with general productivity applications

Salary : $90,000 - $135,000
