Provide insurance, risk advice and education concerning insurance coverage and planning, while performing a wide variety of duties, selling new insurance policies, servicing commercial lines accounts, handling policy renewals, managing leads provided and following up in a timely manner. Conduct branch trainings with team members and provide ongoing insurance and/or reviews to Members. Ability to travel to assigned branches in your territory and other locations is required. Please be advised a P & C license is required for this role.

Advisory Services:
  • Proactively review Member financial information and make recommendations regarding insurance coverage needs.
  • Maintain expertise in all areas of commercial lines accounts, products, and services (depth), and continuously follow pace with the insurance environment, products and services that enhance Members’ needs, risk mitigation, and requirements (breadth).
  • Provide individualized advice and counsel based on specific client (and prospect) needs, with a deep understanding of the nuances exclusive to commercial insurance such as size, scope, diversity.
  • Using independent judgment, provide professional advice and recommendations concerning insurance policies that best meet Members’ needs and financial circumstances.
  • In providing counsel, use a fact finding and profiling process that ensures all needs and possible scenarios are considered in recommendations. Identify all financial information needed to provide consultation and communicate accordingly with prospects and existing clients.
  • Demonstrate commercial lines expertise in advising prospects and existing clients based on the nuances and influencing factors. When recommending the appropriate policies and products, do so while minimizing risk and maximizing sales and service requirements.
  • Educate and advise Members on advantages and disadvantages of various insurance products, insurance philosophies and risk management strategies.
  •  Provide exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Provide ongoing training and education to internal partners regarding insurance products, philosophies, and sales processes.
  • Analyze situations and recommend workable solutions for customers.
  • Perform ongoing management of commercial lines book(s) of business, policy reviews, policy renewals, risk management and ongoing client consultation.
  • Be familiar with ratings and influencing factors when providing quotes to prospects and existing clients.
  • Negotiate and obtain the best price and overall protection for clients based on information provided by the Member.
  • Make and receive calls to resolve insurance related matters, including claims support and problem resolution.
  • Assist Members/clients with their insurance questions and provide Members with quotes for coverage.
  • Continuously pursue ongoing education and knowledge of insurance industry trends, products, and related services.


Sales and Adminstration:
  • Cross-sell book of business and identify opportunities that should be referred to the Credit Union based on financial situation.
  • Handle policy maintenance procedures in a timely manner (new policies, renewals, changes, etc.) within the agency management system.
  • Process all new business, renewal business, etc. in commercial lines department in a timely manner, and manage all leads in accordance with RCUSG standards and expectations.
  • Produce new insurance policies with quality and thoroughness by following RCUIS processes and procedures.
  • Report all claims to the appropriate carrier, follow-up and intervene when necessary to ensure claims are processed in a satisfactory manner.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly lead and sales tracking reports as requested.
  • Aid RCU Insurance Services team members in achieving sales and service goals.
  • Implement new CUSO/credit union related products and services with other team members of RCU Insurance Services.
  • Be knowledgeable of marketing efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of financial and insurance products and services.
  • Excellent knowledge of commercial lines markets, coverage, rating procedures and industry operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of various business types, needs, and complexities of operations.
  • Ability to develop rapport with prospects, existing clients, and other RCU/RCUSG staff.
  • Skill in the operation of a PC with proficiency in Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office software. 
  • Excellent service and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to effectively counsel and offer risk advice to businesses of varying sizes from small businesses and sole proprietorships to larger enterprises and corporations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and inwriting.
  • Ability to coordinate a variety of activities simultaneously and prioritize work.
  • Ability to complete detailed paperwork and follow through on tasks.
  • Ability to collect the documents necessary to complete the insurance transaction.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset and approach to managing both client needs and departmental growth strategies.
  • Ability to travel to various locations, including corporate offices.

Licenses and Certifications:

·       Must have an active Property & Casualty Insurance Agent/Broker’s License.

 

Physical Requirements:

·       Ability to lift 20pounds.

·       Ability to bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist and turn.

·       Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.

·       Work environment is indoors with most of the time sitting at a desk.

·       Ability to travel to assigned branch locations.


Education/Experience:

A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of five years of insurance industry experience and a minimum of 3 years’ commercial lines experience.  


Compensation: Base salary $66,560 plus variable commission plan.

Our base salary starting range is based on scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity. We offer a competitive total rewards package including a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits.
