Redwood Electric Group is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Specialist to join our team. This role is essential to ensuring seamless payroll operations for our office and field teams, with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist with onboarding new employees across multiple office and state locations.
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including tax forms, direct deposit details, address changes, pay rate adjustments, and tax status updates.
- Manage and oversee payroll deductions for employee benefits, including health insurance, 401(k), and other programs.
- Oversee employee leave balances (e.g., PTO, Sick) and ensure accurate payroll adjustments for approved leaves.
- Collaborate with the crew payroll team to ensure consistency and accuracy across payroll operations.
- Monitor and review payroll corrections submitted by the crew payroll team for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and file all required payroll-related tax returns, including quarterly and annual filings (e.g., ACA, 1099s, W-2s, W-3s).
- Reconcile payroll taxes monthly and ensure accurate records.
- Review and, when necessary, process payroll tax payments in compliance with regulatory deadlines.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Conduct periodic audits of payroll data to identify and correct errors or inconsistencies.
- Utilize payroll and related software systems to their full capability, including research, testing, and implementation of new features or systems for both new and existing software.
- Manage all aspects of wrap-up insurance programs (e.g., OCIP, CCIP, UCIP), including enrollment, accurate reporting of payroll dollars and hours, and compliance with project-specific requirements.
- Special projects or other duties will be assigned based on the needs of the payroll team and company.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven experience in payroll processing, preferably within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance.
- Proficient in payroll software, including experience with WorkMax (formerly AboutTime) and Foundation (highly desirable).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to challenges.
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (preferred).
- 5 years of payroll experience.
- 2 years of experience in the construction or a related industry.
- Knowledge of prevailing wage, union payroll, and certified payroll requirements (preferred).
Salary : $45 - $55
