What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Laborer position at Reed Construction?
Summary: Reed is looking to hire an experienced and responsible construction Union Laborer. You will be responsible for layout, installation, repairing, finishing, and maintaining various structures and fixtures for various projects. A successful laborer should be hardworking, reliable, and be detail oriented.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Dexterous use of hands and tools, such as demolition, dismantling forms, removing projections from concrete, setting up pumps and hoses and cleaning of tools and equipment.
- Maintains a clean and safe worksite by performing a variety of tasks including sweeping, picking up debris, transporting tools and equipment, transporting and dumping debris via gondolas, removal of snow, ice and water as appropriate and maintaining perimeter fall protection.
- Protects occupied spaces by posting of signs, erecting plastic enclosures, installing floor protection, checking for negative air, guarding fire protection systems and dewatering.
- Assists in worksite safety through a variety of tasks including installing and removing barricades, setting up road signage communicating with and participating in signaling, flagging and assisting with rigging items to crane.
- Assists in material handling including the unloading of delivery trucks and transporting of frames to carpenters.
- Performs final and general clean-up of a space that may include mopping, dusting, removal of floor protection.
- Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
Qualifications: The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, education, skill, and/or ability that is needed of an individual to perform this job successfully.
- High school diploma with proven experience as construction laborer
- Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.)
- Willingness to always follow safety guidelines.
- Strong understanding of basic math.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, climb, squat, reach, and kneel
- Excellent communications skills and can work well with a wide range of personalities
- A strong sense of urgency and initiative, and the ability to quickly study and react to complex issues, and resolve conflict effectively in a firm but fair manner
- Goal-oriented – ability to problem solve, react quickly to changing circumstances and still achieve the desired results
Work Conditions
- Travel required and time mostly spent on-site.
