Summary
This will lead teams involved in master scheduling, forecasting capacity v. demand, production planning, and project planning to meet on time delivery goals. This includes demand planning, production planning, ensuring lowest possible cost while maintaining goods are delivered on time, lean management, developing production value streams, Gemba boards, organizing work order management, managing KPI metrics and leading Kaizens.
Responsibilities
Plan, schedule, coordinate and approve release of production orders to manufacturing based on material and capacity availability
Provide input to management; reschedule and/or interface with customer program management, master scheduling, customers and operations to reschedule production in the event of design changes, labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions
Manage outsourcing of machine shop and fabrication work, providing updates on job status and expanding approved vendor pool where needed
· Utilize ERP software and supporting worksheets that support production planning, capacity planning, and operational management
· Develop, select and/or customize continuous improvement methods to effectively implement lean manufacturing for varied production and business processes
· Analyze customer demand information, forecasts, orders, machine, labor and material availability and develop a flexible yet efficient master schedule
· Interface with the Engineering team to ensure timing of engineering releases support the master production schedule
· Participate in Gemba walks and report on findings
Requirements:
· Excellent manufacturing ERP systems knowledge coupled with general PC skills mainly MS Office; MS Project experience a plus
· Maintain the production schedule- Master Scheduling
· Drive improvements to the production schedule (manage by job, by sub, by part)
· Oversee each job on the floor, verify department commitment dates are being met, if not what corrective actions are implemented.
· Sit in on manufacturing reviews to provide details on operational hours and material lead times
· Provide “What-If” schedules on a bi-weekly basis for when we need to pull something up or move something out of the schedule.
· Point of contact between production, sales, engineering and quality on scheduling conflicts
· Build and maintain project Gantt Charts for all major projects
· Provide feedback to engineering to help evaluate standards for accurate hours being clocked and rolling standard cost
· Drive monthly meeting awareness on top 10-20 jobs in Gross Margins and discuss variances
· Capacity planning – understanding actual compared to scheduled hours, manpower, hours of operation, by department, by month, communicated and distributed.
· Ensure jobs are releasing and closed in a timely manner
· APICS / Lean / Six Sigma certifications are a bonus
· Knowledge of manufacturing (both discrete and continuous) principles and operations
Qualifications:
· ERP/MRP knowledge
· Must be an organized planner, able to work on multiple projects at same time
· Must have good technical, analytical and interpersonal skills
· Excellent communication skills
· Logical thinker
· Work well with a team and individually
Must be able to use Microsoft Excel and Word
· 7-10 years of experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Operations, or Engineering function or related experience.
