Refuge of Light’s mission is to provide a safe haven, redemptive rescue and restoration for sexually exploited female youth through advocacy, awareness and holistic care.
Refuge of Light is a faith-based organization focused on providing a safe living space in the form of a Supervised Preparation for Independent Living Home for young females aging out of the foster care system. The home can house up to 4 residents in a shared-housing setting. The program is designed to serve female youth with a history of being trafficked, or who are at risk of being trafficked. The age of individuals who will reside in the home range from ages 18-25 years old. Residents will be interviewed for the program and accepted based on the individual’s circumstances. A client’s needs will be determined through self-assessment and assistance from the ROL Team. Individuals living in the home will also have support from staff and Life Coach.
Each resident will focus on planning for their future and meeting their own needs. Residents will be responsible for purchasing their own personal items, clothing and food as quickly as they are able.
Position Summary: Refuge of Light is seeking a mature female, "live-in" House Parent to provide supervision for the female residents (ages 18-25) at our shared- housing facility. Experience or education in human services, social services, or foster care is preferred. The House Parent will work and live onsite full time and will have a minimum of (2) weekends off per month (Thursday afternoon thru Sunday afternoon). Salary will be based on experience and education level.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supervision of female youth (ages 18-25)
- Spiritual needs – modeling Christian character and values - Mission Minded
- Supervision and care of residents to ensure their health & safety
- Maintain a mature and therapeutic mind set at all times
- Help in transporting residents when needed – must be able to drive at night (after dark possibly)
- General maintenance and upkeep of facilities/property
Requirements:
- Must pass an FBI background check/fingerprinting and drug testing per state DFPS licensing standards
- Must be at least 25 years of age & have a valid driver’s license
