Infectious Disease Nurse

Overview:

Exciting opportunity to join our clinical team as a full-time Infectious Disease Nurse within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). You will focus on the prevention, control, and management of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), sexually transmitted infections (STIs), & other infectious diseases in patients. You will render nursing care in Spartanburg, Cherokee, & Union Counties to provide patient care and act as navigator, educator, and support system to patients affected by infectious diseases.

Excellent pay up to $30.00 per hour with excellent full-time benefits. Sign on bonus and quarterly incentive.

Experience and Requirements:

• Currently Registered Nurse (RN) in South Carolina.
• Two years of Infections Control/Disease Control.
• Basic Life Support Certified.
• Federally Qualified Health Care, preferred.
• Fluent in a second language, Spanish preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• You will provide direct nursing care to patients with HIV & STIs, following standing orders to obtain applicable desired clinical outcomes.
• You will notify patient of disease state, monitor patient symptoms, manage treatment plans, linkage-to-care, and continue follow-ups to ensure patient adherence to treatment plan, per preset protocol.
• You will collaborate with providers, care teams, and other health care team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• You will educate staff, patients, families, and communities about HIV & other STI prevention practices and proper treatment adherence.
• You will advocate for evidence-based practices to reduce community-acquired HIV & other STIs.
• You will serve as primary contact for patients and families affected by HIV/STI, ensuring continuity of care.
• You will successfully process Prior Authorizations and/or Patient Assistance Paperwork as needed for patients to receive/complete treatment(s).
• You will place internal/external referrals and/or schedule appointments when necessary to expedite/improve patient care.
• You will report appropriate infectious disease cases to South Carolina Department of Public Health per regulatory requirements.
• You will participate in grant processes to ensure goals & objectives are achieved & additional opportunities are identified.
• You will participate in Quality Improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing outcomes for patients with infectious diseases.
• You will collaborate in the development of infection prevention policies and emergency response plans when necessary.
• You will collaborate with Clinical-Pharmacy, Quality, & Referrals Teams along with other departments as needed.
• You must comply with the ReGenesis Health Care infection control policies and procedures including Body Substance Isolation (BSI) and the exposure Control Plan which reflects OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard to ensure a safe working environment for self and others.
• You must understand and demonstrate compliance with both Health Services and Resources Administration (HRSA) and ReGenesis Health Care program requirements.
• You must maintain appropriate licensure and participates in continuing education activities to exemplify the Licensed Practical Nurse.
• You will ensure and uphold the confidentially requirements of all patient records and manage all daily tasks and activities consistent with HIPAA, state and federal laws and regulations, as well as the clinic’s policies and regulations regarding confidentiality and security.
