JOB TITLE: MENTAL HEALTH NURSE (RN OR LPN)
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a FLSA non-exempt position. The incumbent serves as a Mental Health Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the Region Ten Community Services. In this capacity he/she has responsibility for providing delivery and administration of medications and for providing consultation to other clinical staff regarding health care issues. The incumbent reports to the Nursing Manager for Region Ten's Medical Services in consultation with Senior Director of Adult Developmental Services. This position will involve coverage of primary mental health clinic at the Peterson building in Charlottesville along with PRN (as needed) coverage of rural clinics in Louisa and Nelson Counties. This position will also involve peripheral and support nursing coverage of the ID/DD office at Meadowcreek in Charlottesville. The incumbent performs duties by proceeding alone under standard practices and referring questionable situations to the supervisor. In carrying out position duties, he/she performs in accordance with applicable professional ethics and established Region Ten policies, Virginia Board of Nursing, Virginia Board of Pharmacy and DBHDS policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To ensure the safe and efficient operation of the program, a valid Virginia Driver's License plus an acceptable driving record as issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles are required. For business use of a personal car, a certificate of valid personal automobile insurance must be provided.
EDUCATION:
RN: The incumbent in this position must be a graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program and be registered to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia (required)
LPN: Successful completion from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program (required)
EXPERIENCE: Strong background in a behavioral health setting (preferred)
RN: At least 1 year of relevant experience as a Registered Nurse (required)
LPN: At least 1 year of relevant experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse (required)
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
RN: Active and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia (required)
LPN: Active and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia (required)
SALARY: The initial hourly rate is negotiable and based on education/experience.
RN: GRADE 11
LPN: GRADE 9
POSITION LOCATION: 800 Preston Avenue, Charlottesville, VA 22903 (other locations as assigned)
SCHEDULE:
Full-time ( 40 hours per week)
Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm or 8:00 am - 5:00 pm *May consider schedule adjustments to accommodate candidate as long as clinic needs are met
