Job Summary:
Direct Support Professionals (DSP) provide training and support for individuals with disabilities in their homes and/or various community locations. This support enhances the individual's competencies, helps them achieve goals, and builds relationships within the community.
The DSP may work in various locations. Schedules are based on individual needs, which can include evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Attendance at training sessions is required to expand knowledge and provide quality services.
Schedule:
We offer full-time positions with 30 and 40-hour workweek schedules. Flexible hours allow employees to set their own schedules, including days, evenings, weekends, and overnights, with potential overtime opportunities.

Essential Functions:
- Ensuring a meaningful day for individuals by providing systematic training and customized supports based on their individual needs and desired outcomes.
- Attending team meetings to ensure that developed training and supports meet individual needs.
- Working with individuals, their families, and team members to identify desired outcomes and participate in assessments/evaluations.
- Developing training programs, maintaining data collection, records, and reports as required for accountability and regulatory compliance.
- Monitoring training programs to enhance personal growth and ensure individual progress.
- Serving as a positive role model and trainer for individuals regarding socially enhancing behavior, personal hygiene, language, personal grooming, etc.
- Working cooperatively with consultants, supervisors, and other agency staff to meet individual needs.
- Instructing, following, and enforcing safety precautions according to federal, state, local, and Region V Services rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Maintaining a flexible schedule to meet individual needs for training and support.
- Assisting individuals in meeting nutritional and dietetic needs.
- Providing necessary supervision and training to individuals in various environments to increase valued social roles.
- Assisting individuals in enhancing their image within the community through personal appearance and hygiene.
- Providing transportation and support as needed to improve community access skills.
- Attending staff meetings, training conferences, and other developmental sessions to improve job performance.
- Assisting individuals in managing personal funds with adherence to Region V Services procedures.
- Performing other duties assigned to meet Region V Services needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of training individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Ability to work with individuals with special needs, including personal hygiene/care.
- Ability to contribute positively to the work team.
- Ability to meet physical demands of the service location.
- Lifting may be required; adaptive equipment must be used if available.
- Age requirement: eighteen (18) years or older.
- Ability to accept directions and complete assigned tasks.
- Ability to identify and report situations requiring supervisor advice.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent knowledge.
- Prefer one year of experience in human services.
Special Requirements:
- Possession of a valid driver's license in the state of Nebraska or adequate means of transportation.
- Reliable means of communication, such as a telephone or cell phone.
- Subject to APS and CPS background checks, drug, and alcohol screens.
Compensation details: $15.31-$16.41 Hourly Wage
